As new standard tools in the Pokolm product portfolio, Squareworx® porcupine cutters are suitable for a wide range of applications. The new tool concept was developed in response to a specific request.
With indexable inserts arranged one above the other and offset, the super-effective helical shell mills score points even with difficult-to-machine materials with an extremely high metal removal rate and long tool life.
Three porcupine cutter models are equipped with the highest possible number of teeth for uniform chip removal. The high number of cutting edges also ensures even load distribution and enables high feed rates.
The short indexable inserts produce short chips and enable a smooth, gentle cut with high-quality, fine surfaces. The positive geometry in the 90° axial angle of the milling cutters ensures smooth running and maximum process reliability on every machine.
The new porcupine cutter are equipped with economical Squareworx® indexable inserts. This means that the many advantages of these inserts can also be exploited in other applications. With four cutting edges, maximum cutting performance can be achieved per insert. In addition, the soft-cutting geometry of the indexable insert results in positive cutting behavior and short machining times with maximum metal removal rates. Cutting materials are available in five different grades.
Squareworx® porcupine cutters are available as shell cutters in three sizes, each with two cutting lengths: The diameters are 40, 50, and 66 mm and are each combined with cutting lengths of 1xD and 1.5xD. The tool holders are corrosion-resistant and durable thanks to a special alloy. The fixing screw is included with the Squareworx® porcupine cutter.
All Squareworx® milling systems come with an internal coolant supply as standard, which increases the process reliability of the tool.
Low susceptibility to oscillations and vibrations makes Squareworx® porcupine cutters ideal for solving problems in unstable conditions and ensures maximum smoothness of operation.
Equipped in this way and offering variable applications, Squareworx® porcupine cutters – like all other members of the Squareworx® product family – are very economical cutting tools.
Squareworx® porcupine cutter are versatile for perimeter and contour milling. They effortlessly rough out corners, grooves, edges, cavities, and deep pockets in a wide range of applications, such as high-performance cutting (HPC), and in almost all materials to be machined.
