Advantage over ball-nose end mills
The key difference from conventional ball-nose end mills lies in their geometry: circle-segment milling cutters have a conical design and often feature a radius of 250 mm or more. These solid carbide end mills allow for significantly larger step sizes. The number of required cutting passes is significantly reduced.
Since a larger portion of the cutting edge is in contact with the workpiece, not only is tool life greatly extended, but vibrations are also minimized. The result is excellent surface finishes with significantly shorter cycle times.
Flexibility for complex geometries
Whether for roughing or finishing, circle-segment milling cutters are highly versatile. Thanks to their special cutting edge geometry, a wide range of rake angles can be easily achieved. There are no limits to the complex geometries they can handle.
Pokolm offers two product variants:
- PB01: Product group with a maximum radius of 250 mm.
- PB02: Product group with a maximum radius of 80 mm.
These milling tools cover a diameter range from 2 mm to 12 mm and are suitable for a wide variety of materials. Often, a single milling cutter is all that is needed to complete an entire project.
